Perkiomen School

Perkiomen School, Combining College Preparatory Academics with Creative Entrepreneurship

Perkiomen School, Welcoming International Students for 120 Years

Founded in 1875, Perkiomen School is a selective co-educational boarding and day school that attracts a diverse student body, hailing from ten US states and thirty countries.

Located just 45 minutes from Philadelphia and two hours from New York City, the school’s 172 acre campus offers an engaging experience for 350 students in grades 6-12. Students love the safe, community-centric town of Pennsburg, where walking to nearby shops and restaurants with classmates promotes confidence and independence. With an average class size of 11 students, Perkiomen is known for providing individualized attention to help students meet their goals, both academic and extracurricular.

Director of Admissions Abby Parish Moser elaborated, “Our school motto is ‘Risk being your best.’ We want to help each student reach their full potential. If you’re a premier soccer player in Brazil we want you to feel comfortable trying out for the school play or singing in the Voice competition; we believe in student engagement and helping students reach their goals knowing that that’s different for every single person.”

Encouraging Innovation at Perkiomen

Perkiomen is known for balancing its robust college preparatory academics (which includes 30 Advanced Placement class offerings) with athletics, arts, and opportunities for student creativity and innovation.

The school is also known for it’s momentum. Perkiomen is moving forward—leading and challenging students to build competency and confidence. More than ever, today’s students need to be lifelong learners with strong core skills like adaptability, creativity, and the ability to recognize opportunities.

Students are inspired to learn and practice these skills within the Entrepreneur and Medical Institutes. But results materialize only when theory meets application. Without the space to brainstorm, to build, to design, to boldly fail and try again, these skills are just theoretical.  The on-campus Innovation Center and off-site experience partners provide the spaces and places for student discovery.  The institutes are an evolution of fulfilling the school mission—to inspire students to risk becoming their best—and a launch point to apply their knowledge to both solve problems and add value in today’s changing world.

Welcoming International Students Since 1896

International students have been coming to Perkiomen for 120 years. It has built such a solid reputation that today, 40% of the student body are international. Students are encouraged to participate in field trips and on-campus activities, such as the singing competition Perkiomen Voice, as well as prom, which is an opportunity for foreign students to experience a quintessentially American high school tradition. International students are welcome to Perkiomen both long-term and for shorter exchange programs. The school offers extensive ESL programs—year-long courses as well as accelerated summer programs.
